Travel and Style: What To Wear When You’re Traveling

Posted on

If you’re one who takes your style seriously, you’ll probably never be caught dead anywhere looking messy – even the airport! While most people dress as comfy as possible while traveling, you’d never be caught dead wearing your PJs as you fly to your dream vacation that will be all over your IG feed in the coming days. And then there are those who don’t want to overdo it for their travels, but still, want to look nice and neat. After all, the look you wear on the plane ride is going to be the first thing you’ll be wearing when you get to wherever you’re going, so you want to make a good impression, right? However, there’s a finesse to how to dress when you’re traveling since you still want to make it past security as swiftly as possible, but don’t want to wear anything that will be uncomfortable for the duration of your flight. To help you choose the perfect outfit, here are a few tips on what to wear when you’re traveling!

Airport Style Comfortable Top

Be comfy but not sloppy

At Love Me Trender we get it… you don’t want to be stuck on a long flight wearing anything too tight or uncomfortable, which is why many people sometimes look as if they’re flying in their PJs. It’s all about comfort! But there’s a fine line to looking comfy and sloppy. You don’t want to wear anything that looks as if you’ve slept in it or could swim in it. If you’re going to wear oversized clothes for comfort, pair it with some tights or leggings so that there’s some sort of balance. The perfect comfy traveling piece is a turtleneck sweater (if you’re traveling in winter, of course) since it’s something you can snuggle into as you watch a movie in your 5-hour plane ride and still looked put together thanks to the structured neck. And if you’re going to wear leggings, find ones that offer support. Compression legwear is amazing for extra-long flights since they promote blood circulation and will help prevent your legs from swelling.

Flat shoes

Unless you’re a Kardashian sister who lives in heels, skip your stilettos and opt for something a bit more to the ground. Athleisure is super trendy right now, so opt for your “it” sneaker or go with flat shoes that can easily slip on and off while you go through security at the airport. The last thing you want is to have to deal with boots that won’t come off as you try to make it through security late for your flight, too! Go with something that’s still chic, but can slip on and off easily.

Dress in layers

Even though you might be going to a warm and tropical destination, you’ll want to dress in layers for your flight. It can get quite chilly on a plane and even though you’re in shorts and a tee, bring a light cardigan or sweater to wear on the plane in case it gets colder than you can handle. If not, you can always fold it up neatly and put it right back into your carry on bag for later in case the weather changes. Or you can easily create a makeshift pillow and use it to catch some sleep on the plane!

Wear breathable fabrics

Maintain comfort and cleanliness by opting to wear items that are made with breathable fabrics like cotton, linen or silk. These fabrics allow moisture and air to pass through so that you don't’ get all sweaty and feel dirty.

Just as you would any other outfit, you’ll want to match your accessories accordingly. Just don’t go overboard or else you’ll have to take it all off as you go through security! Just pick a few pieces that will go with a lot of the clothes you packed so that you don’t have to worry about them possibly getting lost if the airline loses your luggage.

Wear a favorite piece of clothing

To feel more confident while traveling, choose one of your favorite pieces of clothing to wear. This way, you’ll feel your best no matter what else you’re wearing as you travel to your destination! Whether it’s your favorite tee or a pair of jeans, wearing something that you feel confident in will make you strut through the airport with your head high.

Don’t overdo it on your makeup or perfume

You’re not going clubbing so try not to go too dramatic when it comes to your makeup, especially if it’s a long flight. You’ll end up walking off the plane looking like a hot mess if anything. Also, try not to overdo it on your perfume. Since you’ll be in close quarters, wearing too much might be overpowering for others on the plane.

When you’re traveling, never forget to look your best because you never know who you’ll run into at the airport. Also, it could also help you get a free upgrade since some staff are told to look for those who are dressed nicely to upgrade, which will only make your vacation that much better!
